Tate Simms Productions Bringing World-Class Music to the Scene
Born in Manhattan, New York, Tate Simms has experienced some of the best music that the world has to offer growing up. His background and work with his company, Tate Simms Productions, has turned the music lover into an accomplished all-around musician. Tate can play the guitar, bass, and drums and has killer vocals to add to that.
Tate is best known for playing with some of the biggest music stars today. He has performed with Grammy Award-winning singers like Christina Aguilera and Joe Cocker. Tate Simms also played the bass for Mary Wilson of The Supremes, Globus, and Latoya Jackson. Other big acts he’s played with include Sheryl Crow, Curtis Blow, Orin “Juice” Jones, The New Ray Charles Orchestra, The Harlem Gospel Choir, George Benson, and Spencer Davis. Tate also appeared on the phenomenon known as The Oprah Winfrey Show as a backup for Lisa Marie Presley. He started Tate Simms Productions to publish and launch original music, which has skyrocketed in popularity as of late.
The career of the highly illustrious musician started when he was only sixteen years of age. After realizing that it wasn’t part of his path, he dropped out of college and started to venture into music. Tate Simms started in pop and would later move into more advanced and technical genres. Through the years, music has become his one true passion and life’s work.
The musician’s discography features two albums released back in 2010 and 2012 through his company, Tate Simms Productions. His first album, entitled “Romantic Holiday,” features songs like “Mystic,” “What Can I Do,” “I Call U Up,” “Enough is Enough,” “It Started So Right,” “I’ll Never Forget You,” “Irresistible Charm,” “Your Love Songs,” “My Friend,” “Almost There,” and “100 Days,” among others. The album also features karaoke versions of most of his tracks.
In 2012, Tate launched “Feel It,” his sophomore album. The record included tracks like “Dreamin Bout Cha,” “Wake Up,” “Something 2 Say,” “I’m Not Afraid,” “Matter of Trust,” “Holiday,” “It’s Physical,” “Wall 2 Wall,” “Make A Stand,” and many others.
The artist also offers a full-service music library that features various sound beds for film and television soundtracks through Tate Simms Productions. Tate’s musical talent has brought him film sound work for a production like Why Him?, which stars Bryan Cranston and Unstoppable, starring the Oscar winner Denzel Washington. For a season of his career, Tate Simms also lived in Germany, where he served as head writer for the nationally acclaimed television show Süss und Lecker.
What sets Tate’s music work apart from others is how well-rounded his work is. While he understands that categories work to make things simple, he never lets genres pigeonhole his creative process. Tate Simms loves to experiment with sounds and come up with unique styles and tracks. Apart from performing, the music expert also takes directing roles for many big music tours.
Recently, Tate Simms Productions has released a new single “Make It Easy,” which Tate considers “a tapestry of sound that combines haunting a classical intro with a heavy deep funky bass and drum groove to get you on the floor.” The track features up-and-coming artist Eleyana Estrada.
